After reading some of the reviews for the carbon fiber iPhone 3GS cover I was concerned it may block some or all of my signal. I decided to send an email to this site's customer service and ask about it. I sent the email on a Sunday evening expecting to get a canned reply in several days. Instead I got a reply in minutes that was written specifically to address all of my questions. I was told they have sold a lot of these covers and a handful of customers reported the problem. They were given a refund and the covers were tested when they were returned and no problems were found. I decided to go ahead and buy the cover. I sent a second email at 9:00 pm on Sunday night saying I placed an order and thanked them for the prompt and great customer service. I got another reply within minutes thanking me for the order all on a Sunday night! Well today, only two days after placing my order, I received my carbon fiber case in the mail. It is perfect! It looks amazing. I have full bars on 3G and full wifi signal too. So at least for me, the cover has not blocked my signal at all. It fits perfectly and looks like the phone itself is carbon fiber. It doesn't cover the chrome trim as others have mentioned but with the plastic film I have covering the glass face of the phone, I think it will be okay. The cover is feather light and looks so good. I am VERY satisfied with the customer service I received and the looks and high quality of the cover itself. I will recommend this cover to family and friends. In short; great cover, beautifully crafted. I own a 3GS-version and fortunately I don't experience any signal loss whatsoever (Dutch network). Wifi also receives 100% signal.

The build-in antenna in a mobile phone, works '360 degrees'; there should be enough signal reception from the rest of the phone, which isn't covered with CF.

We use a lot of CF in radio controlled boats and cars; same result: no signal loss. Only when a complete hull (incl. deckhull) is made out of CF, you will block reception. But hey, that's obvious.

I have also the same problem with the Signal loss.. (However I bought the Moncarbone cover via Moncarbone.com themselfs)


Cover on : very bad reception with random 3G reception
Cover off : Very good connection and 3G reception is stable


I tested it today for about 2 hours long on 1 location without moving the Iphone
Iphone was placed in a open area with a 5cm thick woolen scarf (its cold outside!) below it to avoid any interference :-)

Iphone version 3.1.2 clean restored.

I performed a network reset and a clear cache on Iphone to avoid any other interference

Speed runs about 10-30 Kbps (download) // 1-5 Kbps (upload

I checked on internet for specifications of Carbon Fibre.

However the composite glue that have been used could contain any form of metal.
Since I am not aware of the composite extraction, I have no idea why this 7 grams of "plastic" cover is causing this problem for so many of us....

I bought this case for my room mate for Christmas. It looks sweet. Amazing finish. However, he noticed that once he put it on he began dropping a lot of calls. One day he decided to take the case off and instantly he had 5 bars. The case looks great but if it hurts the functionality of the phone, its not a good buy. (Posted on 1/10/10)

Beautiful crafted carbon fiber product. If you love CF as much as I do, it's a must have. As stated, this cover provides zero protection so just be honest with yourself about what you're looking for in a case...this is all show. BUT, it's the best of show. HOWEVER, there is a huge hit on signal strength. Mine seems to be completely random at the moment. Worst area so far is in my own home. No cover in the house renders me a full 5 bar 3G signal. With the cover on, one to two bars and zero 3G. Signal returns to full strength within seconds of removing the cover. I am still in the coin toss stage as to wether or not I'll keep this case or return it. (Posted on 12/31/09)

I absolutely love this case! My MINI Cooper S JCW has a carbon fiber air intake, so now my phone matches my car ;-). I’ve had people ask me how I replaced the black back of my phone with carbon fiber. They are amazed when I pop it off and let them hold it. This product makes an iPhone even better.

I would also like to comment on how quickly my questions were answered. Before I purchased the case, I emailed the company regarding my concerns over a potential drop in signal strength. I received almost immediate feedback that I would be offered a full refund if it was a problem. After using the case for one month, I cannot tell the difference in signal strength whether the case is on or not.

I would recommend this case for anyone who hates the bulk of most iPhone cases or for anyone who wants their iPhone to look cool.

I've had several cases for my iPhones and this one is by far the best. However, as others have stated, it's not really a case as much as a rear cover. It adds a lot of personality and that great CF goodness to the phone, but does not provide the protection of a case.

I've recently used the Ion cases (black and yellow/orange) for my iphone and they are a real protective case. If that's what you are looking for, go with one of them. Also on the CFG site... They are worth every penny.

There have been several reviews stating the CF blocks signal to your phone. Eh, I don't think so. CF is conductive, but not in this application. There is NO signal loss with these cases. Don't worry about it. (Posted on 12/2/09)

Wow...this thing looks amazing! The carbon fiber gleams underneath the clearcoat finish. The case is so thin, and fitted very well, it looks almost like a replacement to the stock plastic black case. It's thin, and barely weights anything! The item was shipped to me incredibly quick, packaged well, and the MonCarbone packaging is top notch.

Some of my disappointments though are: I kind of already knew this, but it's no "case", but rather an option to protect the stock black (or white) back. It snaps on easily, but there's no "real" snap... so, you don't have the most secure feeling... and already in accidental drops, the "case" flies right off on impact! The clearcoat makes the carbon fiber look amazing, and gives the item nice depth, however I have noticeable slight scratches already.

Overall, this case is quite a looker.... a gorgeous way to highlight your phone. However, it's not a good choice to "protect" your phone. (Posted on 10/21/09)
