If you love carbon fiber, and you have a MacBook 13″ (as well as the new MacBook Pro 13″), a MacBook 15″ Pro, or the MacBook Air then you need to see this “Shadow” carbon fiber leather case.
The case is triple layer carbon wrapped and features a removable plexiglass window to display the Apple logo. The material is very similar to the Case-Mate carbon fiber leather case for the iPhone that we looked at a while back. It’s soft to the touch on the outside, and has a velvet-like plush interior to protect your laptop on the inside.
The case comes in two pieces and clips onto the bottom and top of the laptop, it takes about 5 seconds to install. The design is ultra low profile and lightweight so that it doesn’t add much bulk or weight to your laptop. It features cutouts that give you access to all of your ports and buttons.
MSRP is $89.99, and is available for the MacBook 13″/MacBook Pro 13″, MacBook Pro 15″ and MacBook Air directly from us. Keep in mind that for new Mid 2009 cases that they cover the security lock. We did a little video review that you can see here:

Very cool, is it scratch resistant?
The material is a lot like leather, I would say it’s about as scratch resistant. The material is soft.
Hi, do you sell this Case for the new Mac Book Pro 13″ with SD-Slot ? Thanks
Hasan – this case fits the new MacBook Pro, since the sides are open, it will account for the new openings. The only issue is that it does cover the security lock (only on the new MacBook Pro with SD slot).
I need one for my new 17″ macbook pro unibody…
DONT BUY IT HERE! you can get the same one from macsales.com for 49.99! im looking on the web for the lowest price.
Thanks! $49.99 plus $5.75 shipping.
Do you need to worry about your macbook becoming too hot when this cover is on?
I don’t think you would, I believe the MacBook now vents through the keys, and not through the bottom of the case. We haven’t seen any problems, but it would be a question you can ask to the manufacturer. xgearlive.com
Just received mine. Looks great, but not sure it’s really carbon fiber. And I don’t see a bit of leather anywhere. Fits my MacBook Pro 13″ perfectly. No bottom rubber protective feet though, so the bottom will eventually get worn and dirty if not properly cleaned and cared for. Also, the opening for the Apple logo is oddly shaped and doesn’t line up with logo symmetrically. Oval not round either–odd.
All-in-all very cool looking, but maybe not exactly as advertised.
I just received mine for my 15″ mBPro and the look is great but I am concerned about a couple things. Like the post above the clear opening for the Apple logo does not line up properly. More importantly though, with the case on the laptop does not close properly. The magnetic latch doesn’t take hold and the lid just opens up. Anyone else have this problem? Is there a fix or is this a bad unit?
GBK,
As nicely designed as the case is, XGear screwed up the centering of the Apple logo opening. Makes no sense why they made it oval, not round (an apple is round, after all), and then didn’t get the placement right in relation to the logo on the MB cover. It’s about 3mm off.
My case fits perfectly but the MB top will flip open if tilted upside down. Other than that everything closes snugly. The is a small gap between top and bottom due to the thin lip on either side of the protective cover. Hard to get around that and not a problem for me.
Very nice looking cover for your MacBook pro worth Every penny. Why buy cheap one if you can get this for a little more just like choosing mac and pc, by little more you can get the best. So don’t wait fellas if you have MacBook buy this!!!!!
When will it arrive the model for 17″ macobooks?
At this time the manufacturer has no plans to do a 17″ version, but should that change we’ll be on it!
Does the cover allow for venting?
Venting is done through the keyboard, not through the bottom of the laptop.
people no such thing as carbon giber leather = leather woven like carbon fiber , the material you atre looking at is pure 100 % leather, so where does triple layer of carbon come from there is none that case is simply a leather covering. go check it with your own eyes
This isn’t leather woven like carbon fiber. I doubt it’s leather anything. Not at this price. Doubtful its carbon fiber either. Most likely synthetic leather that looks like carbon fiber. Double fake. I do question the ethics of this website portraying the product as something that it isn’t.
Regardless, it’s great looking and does the job.
Will it fit the older macbook pro 15in? aka mine is 2 years old
Nope.
Looks awesome, Grate idea.
?
However, what’s the benefits of getting one? there is a lot of cases and I have been tempted. why should I get this
Thanks !
Protection and looks, why else would you want a case
I just searched about Carbon-Fiber, and I got to say
Can’t wait tell it comes !
it’s a MUST !
any how, I just ordered one from you guys
We got your order, thanks! Ships out in the morning!
can i order a Gloss black for macbook pro 13.3?
Is it carbon fibre? Is it leather? What is it? Carbon Fibre Leather is a nonexistant substance.
I would like to top Ben’s question if he doesn’t mind. Some of my friends asked when I got the Carbon Fiber cover, if it is breakable ?
Breakable? If you try to fold it, yes. If you jump on it, yes. If you drop it, no. It’s not fragile at all.
Can I get one for my first generation macbookpro 15.5′
They unfortunatlely don’t make one for the first gen.
I’m so jealous that this doesn’t fit my white Macbook…ugh!
So this won’t fit the white unibody macbooks?
No it will not Nick
So this will not fit any of the new Macbooks (late 2009 white)?
Gavin – No, only the aluminum (silver) unibody’s
Considering purchase of this cover, as it looks elegant and functional, but want to know whether the Apple logo opening issue has been resolved and whether rubberized feet have been added to the design since feedback in July 2009. Many thanks for an update.
As far as I know no updates have been made to the product.
