After a fun weekend of snowboarding, I thought it would only be right to post some sort of carbon fiber snow gear up. This time up we’ve got the Oakley A Frame carbon fiber snow goggles:

If you can’t notice from the picture, these are actually carbon fiber styled, and not real carbon fiber. They still look great, and the A Frames are a good snow goggle. Oakley developed a three-tier defense system against the coveted fog that we all hate on goggles. They have surge ports that control airflow, there is also a F-3 series anti-fog treatment, and a dual lens design that reduces fog by creating a thermal barrier of trapped air. All to keep your eyesight clear. The lens is available in 3 colors, VR28 (pinkish), black iridium (shown above), and persimmon (orangish). You can find the carbon fiber styled version of the A Frames on eBay for about $90-$100 shipped, here’s a list of the latest auctions for your reference:
Autoblog had an interesting article explaining how extensive carbon fiber use in vehicles is still a good while out. In fact, GM used the Corvette ZR1 as a test to demonstrate the feasibility of using carbon fiber in mass production, as well as monitoring its degradation over time. The ZR1 has a carbon fiber roof, hood, front splitter, front fenders, side skirts, and spoiler.
Carbon fiber is a great material, but it’s still very expensive to produce. The hope is that over time more and more material will be used, therefore reducing the cost to the point where it can be used in everyday vehicles. It sounds like carbon fiber is here to stay, and we’re here to report the forefront of its coolest products

For those of you cigar aficionado’s on the go, carry your cigars in style with the Porsche Designs P’3682 carbon fiber and wood travel humidor:

Porsche Design found the skills to make what is probably the only pocket humidor which is designed as a pocket humidor from beginning to end. More beautiful, much stronger, and with its combined divider and humidifier, more functional. The curved sides of the box, built of carbon fiber with an cedar veneer, make it virtually crush-proof while keeping the weight to a featherweight 300 grams.

Check out the review from Cigar Aficionado magazine.
You can find the Porsche Designs travel humidor on Amazon for about $700.
Hermès is known as one of the most luxurious and prestigious brands in the world, and their carbon fiber briefcase is a prime example of this:

The briefcase has a carbon fiber outercase and tan leather inner lining/handle. The locks are 18k gold plated, and there is also a small plate where your initials can be engraved. There are two different sizes, the larger (shown abobe) being 19″ X 14.5″ X 6″.
The briefcase has a limited production run of 500, and is priced at $16,000. Unfortunately the only place that I could find a picture or information was this eBay auction which has it priced for $10,000 new. I couldn’t find anything on the Hermès website. If anybody has or can find more pictures, please let me know.
