If you haven’t seen the Ralph Lauren car collection show (Speed, Style, And Beauty) on the Discovery HD channel, you’re missing out. The show is all about Ralph Lauren’s collection of 30+ cars (what is now over 50)…which if you don’t know are simply amazing pieces of art and history.
So how does this tie into carbon fiber? What you may not have known is that Ralph Lauren designs much of his clothes and collection based on cars he has in his collection. That’s where the RL-CF1 chair comes into play:

The chair was introduced in the fall 2003 home collection, and starts at a mere $17,250. It was originally inspired by the beauty of Lauren’s own McLaren F1 car, which as you may know, is made of carbon fiber.

The RL-CF1 features 54 layers of tissue carbon laid by hand to form the frame, which support a leather seat and back. It is surely a beautiful design that only the priviledged can afford to have in their home.

more proof that just because it can be made out of carbon fiber doesn’t mean that it SHOULD be made out of carbon fiber.
that could be made out of metal and sold for $172.50
plus how does anyone look at the F1 and then come up with that ugly chair?
wow, i am really surprised this actually RL, it is very ungly chair. and i bet it will be a lot of $$$ as well.
